At any point in a hydraulic circuit the pressure should be the same as at
any other point once the system has reached equilibrium.  You can therefore
put your gauge where it is most convenient for you to insert a fitting.

My pump is on the RH side inside the cockpit on the fire wall.  My gauges
are in the horizontal portion of the central console.  I picked up the feed
for them from the HP and LP lines adjacent to the emergency "Dump Valve"

The gauges are the same gauges Marv used, glycerin filled and good quality.
If you need the supplier I can dig it out for you.  Marv probably has it at
his fingertips on one of his magic computers.

Remember if you want to insert extra components you have extra leak points.
Also isolating valves in gear system component lines are accidents waiting
to happen. It is certain that one day one valve will get left closed
somewhere.  Paraphrasing Henry Ford, if you don't have them you can't leave
them closed and they will not leak.

A system with a single pressure and selector valve would have to have a way
of returning the fluid in the other side of a double acting piston, to the
pump reservoir.  I suppose it is possible but the plumbing will be more
complicated.

My 4 cents worth as our Canadian dollar is only worth 60 cents US!

Ian Crowe
