I recieved my sample parts today via UPS from Fairchild. Using my business
name they were free.
Sent were 1 ea p/n: 1810 base and 1 ea p/n: 1820-1C (cad plate-yellow) stud.
The base looks alot like a floating nut plate with a large recepticle (.383"
dia x .570" tall) instead of a nut. I'm sure a standard nut plate jig will
locate the #40 drill holes for 3/32 rivets to install it.
The stud is a flush head type with a 5/32" recessed hex for use with an
Allen key type tool. The stud is .250" dia and its head is .370" dia. A
small screw driver with a 5/23" bit will turn it easily thru the ratcheting
steps. The ratcheting "clicks" allow the fastener to be brought up tight
thru a range of grip lengths for a particular stud. The -1, by my
measurement, has a grip range from .175 to .325".
I do wonder about a dimple type washer for the cowl so the c'sunk stud seats
on metal rather than on our composite cowl material. Maybe Brent has an
answer to that question?
Check the Fairchild Fastener web site and look under Tridair for more info.
Prices are high for these parts but the quality is excellent. Solving the
problem of seating the c'sunk head into our composite cowl material is my
current issue, other than price. I don't think I want to spend $800 on 28
of these for our cowl.
Phone orders at (800) 992-4444 x1245, speak to Duffy.
The CA 1810 is $20. The retainers are $175 for a bag of 50 and I didn't get
a price on the studs.
Duffy said they were out of stock on the stainless -1 as well as the cad. I
don't know where he found one to send to me. I thought he was going to send
a -2C. It was a short conversation.
