Hi Colin
Long time no see.
I can't offer you much help since I am using a B&C starter with a # 4 wiring
and the battery behind the co-pilots seat, - but without problems. I have
measured a voltage at the starter relay as low as 8 during winter
starting, -but the starter still pulled the crank through TDC although slow.
But I can show you how to double the life of your standard starter relay.
Years ago I got in a spot with a fused relay up to a week-end where I
couldn't get a replacement so I made my own overhaul to as good as new
condition.
I have done the same thing twice since then with no problems.
I made a series of photos that I can send you with a few words of
explanation.
(I don't know if Marv would be able to add a slide show to his attachments).
Regards
Jens - still flying OY-CUA out of Copenhagen
[I'd be happy to add the picture series to the LML website. Just send
them to my private email address. Thanks....
