There you can drive to the city through the Holland Tunnel and be right downtown in a matter of minutes. You can also take a taxi to Newark Airport. Both Linden and Teterboro are not close enough to public transportation to get you to the city. Newark has an expensive landing and overnight fee but has a bus to a PATH train which goes directly into the midtown area. For me it depends on where you are going in the city. Teterboro is closer to the George Washington Bridge and Linden is closer to Staten Island and Lower Manhattan. If you are looking for a place to stay, and I guess this goes for anyone on this list, since you are all trustworthy, my mother runs a great informal B&B on Staten Island just 5 minutes from the best ride in town, the free ferry to downtown Manhattan (20 minutes). It is a beautiful and huge 100 year-old house which has been restored on Sailor's Snug Harbor, a thriving cultural center and botanical gardens. E-mail me if you need any more info.
