I am looking for input on the ups and downs of running a newly rebuilt
engine on a new lancair airplane.
I have a 950 sn engine that has been sitting for several years. The engine
looks good on the outside but who knows about the inside. I am planning on
going through the engine and am thinking about rebuilding it at the same
time.
The question I have is with all of the engine and taxi tests to come, am I
making a mistake in hanging a new engine on my airplane or would I be better
off to run it the way it is and rebuild it later?
Will I have overheating and break in issues?
The engine is an 0320 E2G and currently has no carburetor or mags. I also
want to know more about fuel injection and electronic ignition possibilities
for this engine.
I definitely do not want a hangar queen and will sacrifice a little power
for something a little less temperamental.
Any input is greatly appreciated!
