Roughly how large is your trim tab? I want to make and use the smallest tab possible that will be effective in altitude hold as my elevator springs are adjustable and hold quite effectively throughout the full range of flight speeds. I expect that a small tab of perhaps 1.25 inches by 6 inches (7.5 sq. in.) will suffice for altitude hold but once I cut and repaint, too small or large would be difficult to correct. Do you use MAC Servos or does the EZ trim supply its own? A fellow EAA club member in our Chapter 223, an electrical engineer and electronics hobbyist has designed and bench-test-only his own design of an altitude hold which I hope to flight test for him. It looks quite professional, is light weight and very small and does use MAC Servos. It is designed to hold any altitude wherein it is "turned on" and will not "seek" a programmed altitude but this is, I believe, adequate for most flying airplanes today. It reduces workload and helps them avoid busting FAA assigned altitudes. Thanks for your report and I hope to hear more of your calibration of the EZ Trim as you improve on it.
