The instructions called for a blueprint for this which I didn't get. I called Carston, he said they decided that blueprint was not necessary. I asked him what shape the pushrod hole should be. He said his was kind of egg shaped and that I would figure it out. Just to make sure I had at least 1/8" clearance around hinge brackets, push rods, etc. Soooo, I fitted and trimmed a little and fitted and trimmed a little more, ad nauseum until I was happy with it. I have no idea if it looks like what the designer had in mind or not but I have just enough room to get the hinge bolts in and tightened. I only needed access on one side to attach the rudder and push rod so my hinge openings are not symmetrical from left to right. If someone who knows more about this sort of thing than I do I would care to respond, I would like to know what the pros/cons are of symmetrical opening verses smallest possible opening. I figure I can easily make them larger if it becomes necessary or advisable to do so. I've been very surprised at how much time that has gone in to this rudder.
