Joe,
The torque plate must go next to the axle so the pads will line up over the
disk. The spacer(s) will be next to the "foot" or "ankle". Assemble the
calipers and you will see.
I have different thickness spacers on right and left sides to make up for a
factory misalignment of the gear box. This was required to get the tires to
go into their respective wheel wells centered in their openings.
