Matt, Scott, Ed and others: Continuing this discussion of static on LNC2, I too have long had (200 hours) serious static with associated electronics and communications problems while flying in WLS primer. My question to this group is what type (composition) of paint do you recommend to end or curtail this problem on final paint of the airplane? A corollary question is what types of paint should I avoid so as to minimize this static problem?
My current desire is to paint in a somewhat metallic, very light grey/white color such as may be seen on the 2001 Mercedes. (The local Mercedes dealership will not disclose anything about this paint whether the composition, color number, manufacturer or alternate retail sources. Neither will it sell this paint so that I will have to approximate.) I believe it is an acrylic enamel but I am willing to use it or another paint type; this static problem and its complications must end. WLS is an epoxy primer. Might we assume that another epoxy paint would continue this static problem when applied to e-glass surface? Which are the "bad" paints? Does "metallic" create or solve static problems? Thanks for your ideas. Greg Nelson
