I had the cockpit closeout rib inboard gear door hinge sections affixed with pop rivets per the appropriate circa 1989 standard kit build manual option.  At about 100 hours, the left hinge had loosened several of the forward rivets and later, the right hinge had also done that and also cracked the hinge.  I replaced the hinge section and all pop rivets with AN3 bolts and have not had a problem since.  I now have 370 hours.  The doors operate in dirty air and their resulting vibration can cause the rivets to fail.  I have not seen a problem with the door mounted hinges.  If you built with rivets, replace them with bolts before the problem arises.  Note: Marv, I should have submitted this as a service difficulty report when it occurred.
