In a conversation with Bill Harrelson, I was telling him that I can only trim my plane between 95 and 160 KIAS. I would like to be able to trim between 90 and 200 KIAS. Descending is a major test of stamina. I could adjust the trim up to 180 KIAS but then my low speed minimum trim would be 125 KIAS. I have already installed Dick Reichel's Geared Trim System(GTS). I thought that the GTS provided stronger springs but I guess that they are not strong enough.
Bill tells me that he installed stronger springs from someone other than Dick Reichel and that he can trim from 55 to 230 KIAS. Bill, feel free to cut in here and correct me if I dreamed up the numbers.
Does anyone know who supplies stronger springs? Could just shorting the springs make up for the difference in our trimmed airspeeds? Can the springs be shortened safely?
Thanks in advance.
