I was not fond of the use of MC and was looking to see if there was an alternate cleaning agent. Carsten's position at that time (Feb 99) with MC was that it was the ONLY cleaning agent that would remove WAX residue left from the molds. Once we had cleaned an area that had a possibility of containing residual mold wax with the MC, any further cleaning for epoxy work could be done with acetone. The bonding strength of our lay-ups has to be at the highest standard possible. I would gladly eliminate the MC from my shop if Lancair can assure me something else cleans our carbon fiber or fiberglass of the mold wax. This is critical enough in my mind that I believe Carsten or someone else in engineering from Lancair should state their present position on this. Maybe they are no longer using wax in the molds so newer kits owners do not need to clean wax from their components.
