This required me to be innovative in designing counter weights. I was lacking "up" travel if I remember. I ordered 1" square lead bar stock from Industrial Lead in LA. I bought 5' and didn't use nearly all of it. My leading edge flanges are shorter than the book calls for; 7/8" at the tips and about an inch+ at the roots, to get full travel. The bar stock was a bitch to shape into a trapezoidal cross section but it has worked out well. I attached the lead with screws countersunk into the pieces as well as with Hysol. No bid was put over. I'm very sure they are there for all eternity. My ailerons are roughly 10+ lbs total of which about half is lead. The figures are written on them if you really need that data.
