Bummer! However, that would be a very plausible explanation for this
extremely unfortunate incident. And tough to detect in a normal preflight
inspection -- the mouse nest could be anywhere and in places that we don't
look at in a normal preflight.
My wife (the animal lover) will ask me, though, what happened to the mouse???
