Mike, If you get the hinge-pin kits from the guy (mentioned here many times
in the past) they a snug fit and are a bit hard to insert - even into
slightly worn hinges. Don't know if what you purchased have the correct
dimensions (I never measured mine when they arrived) but if they fit in as
loose as you describe, either you have the wrong size or there's something
wrong with your hinges.

Everyone I know who has bought the kit from .... (still can't think of his
name) has struggled some to insert the Teflon tube into the hinge loops. I
had to slightly stretch about an inch of the end of the tubing by grabbing
it with pliers (it gets a little narrow where you stretch it) and cut the
narrowed area diagonally with a razor blade to get it to go in. (To get just
the last inch or so to narrow , I inserted the wire material to within an
inch of the end of the tubing).
