As a result of Tony's crash, several of us, including myself,  are
rereading the Builder's Manual to make sure are gas tanks are vented
correctly.

There was some mention of an SB-048,  which covers the vent at
BL-145.  This vent runs from the main tank through the main spar into the
leading edge of the wing.  The purpose is to allow the gas in the leading
edge forward of the main spar to drain.  The discussion about Tony's crash
indicated that this vent was either plugged or non-existant.

I contacted Amber Ridell about SB-048, and she kindly and quickly replied
as follows:

SB048 was for SN#387-416FB only.  It was to correct something we did or
didn't do on those certain fast builds.

So, here is the scoop:

You need a hole through the spar at BL-145 to vent the leading edge gas
tank, unless your serial number is 387-416FB.  In that case, consult
the SB.

You also need a vent from BL-147 to the exterior NACA scoop to vent all the
main tanks in the wing.

The hole at each  of these locations  is easily checked for plugging by
inserting a mirror into the fill port and using a small flex-light.
