I defy anyone to show that the shear stresses on the pin material used in the Teflon/SS hinge pin kit is anywhere near the shear failure limits of said pins. I've examined mine, after about 300 hours of service and find NO indications of undue wear - cold flow or otherwise. I found that grabbing the end of the Teflon tubing with pliers and pulling hard will stretch the end of the tubing slightly, thereby narrowing it just slightly. An angle cut with a razor blade at the narrowed spot will allow easy insertion of the tubing. The wire is then pushed thru and the narrowed end of the tubing cut off (about 1/2 inch). Works for me. The Carbinge hinges probably are good things, but shouldn't be touted at the expense of other equally good things. In politics, it's known as "mud-slinging".
