Ian,
Our first cowling hinges were placed on McBrayer's IVP based in Seattle.
That plane won first at Arlington and third at Oshkosh as I recall. Those
hinges were glass rather than graphite and bench cure resin was used. The
airplane must have more than 600 hours on it by now and, as of about a year
ago, the owners said they were still pleased with the hinges. I don't have
pictures unfortunately, but I will continue to try to get some, as there
must be a minimum of 20 or 30 customers who have purchased Carbinge for that
purpose.
Our hinges are all graphite now and are made with prepreg. Take a look at
my website for pictures of the hinges and of various applications as well as
data on how to apply the hinges. Also, you've stimulated me to work harder
to get pictures and advice from customers for more detailed instructions.
I'm building a IVP and am waiting for my EPS V8 engine before I do the
cowling, so I don't have first-hand experience yet.
Regards...
