I learned on Friday that Sierra Flight Systems was bought out by a 1.5
billion $ company, reported in the AOPA news.SFS had been looking to find
a company with more financial resources to help them to the next level. This
appears to be it. I spoke with Gordon Pratt, president of SFS to congratulate
him and he tells me they are very excited.  This should help
them acquire
certification and integration with more systems rapidly.
Additionally, they
will be able to deliver product with shorter lead times.
  The purchasing company is Chelton. This company I understand is much
larger than Garmin (for example) and manufactures avionics for many of the US
military aircraft.  It is based in Europe but has a large site in Phoenix,AZ.
  Gordon tells me that SFS will continue to operate with the same leadership in the Idaho facilities and Brent Regans company will
continue to supply the hardware.  Hang on to your hats, I think the SFS EFIS
products will be the future of MFD's in general aviation.
