I have the 360 with MkII tail, outback gear and debongers.  The flip side of
the 320-360 is as follows.  I have flown beside two lancairs one 320 with
high compression pistons and flowed heads supposedly hopped up to 190 HP.
with hartzel two blade prop.  I have the MT 3 blade with a stock 360.  The
speed differential is about 20-25 kts.  Climb performance is better with the
360 and MT prop whether it is the prop or both I would suspect both. Don
Geotz said if you want performance you cannot beat cubic inches.  My
airframe is 1210 basic empty weight with a counterweighted engine.  The
larger wheels would be better on rougher ground. 235s don't have the ommpff
to get off the ground compared to the larger engines.  I also would not try
short fields with these birds.  There is no safety margin with 1700 feet. If
you are on the short runway you would be better served with an RV.  They are
a kick to fly, great on the low end and they do have respectable high end
speeds.  Much safer on the short fields.
