I guess everybody has forgotten about the 75A Bosch relays that I
recommended about ten years ago and several times since. Probably in the
archives somewhere...

[You're right, John... this message was posted to the LML on 12/7/98:

>>
A few months back John Cooper posted a message here regarding replacements
for the intermittent main gear duty relays and flap control relay which are
supplied with the [LC20 and possibly other] kits.  He recommended 2
specific Bosch part numbers
0 332 002 150 for the 60A inductive SPST hydraulic pump relays
0 332 204 150 for the 15A inductive flap relays
the number on the 15A unit has been changed to 0 332 209 150.

The contact information which he provided is outdated, so I thought I'd
provide the updates for those of you who might be looking to substitute
these items for the Lancair supplied parts.  If you don't remember why he
suggested the change, this is what he told me:

>>>
I used the Bosch relays to control the hydraulic power pack because:

1. They were smaller and lighter, and

2. They were more reliable. (They were specifically designed to handle
inductive loads, and are life-cycle rated.)
<<<

The manufacturer can be contacted at
Robert Bosch Corp
Automotive Group
2800 S. 25th Ave
Broadview, IL 60153
708-865-5200

The number that he gave for Twentieth Century Marketing is no longer in
service, (it was where he obtained data sheets from), but I do have a good
number for a distributor in PA who will sell these things directly.  They
are readily available from
Brandon Products
800-422-3274.

The 60A units are US$13.27 each, and the 15A ones are $2.57.
<<

Additionally, there are complete schematics that show the use of these
relays along with the full wave bridge to provide the transit light
and flyback voltage protection for the relay contacts in the Lancair
Network News, issue # 45, pages 599-601 inclusive.  And while we're on
the subject, John, you've had these units in service longer than anyone...
ever had any problems with them?  How many cycles would you say yours have
survived?
