A couple of years ago I was working Aircraft Parking at the Golden West
Fly-In. A 172 landed and I was the first Flagman, I signaled to stop and
cut the engine. They almost ignored me, said they figured I was confused
with the signals, no damage except a well ground tow-bar.
The best one was a Calif Hwy Patrol C-185 that took off with a power tow
hanging off the tail wheel, he suspected the tow but did a fly-by at the
nearest Tower field hoping for something else. They confirmed and asked
him to come by again so they could get a photo, he declined.
"Don't ever let go of a tow bar attached to an airplane" sounds like good
advice to me.
