I follow the proceedure you describe where, if my hand is not on the bar, the bar is not on the plane. I also see the towbar reminder twice in my checklists: first, in the pre-flight list and again in the pre-start list. If I don't know for sure where it is, I re-check. Hopefully I can reach a high number in flight hours before I have to write the same report. Thanks again.
