Those tie wraps are a wonderful invention. While not the most elegant
in appearance, they certainly meet all the other criteria: fast,
cheap, and functional. They hold up well in the engine compartment
even close to exhaust stacks. Tie wraps that are close to exhaust
system components (on the order of 3 to 4 in.) will yellow and become
brittle over time, but I have never seen this lead to a failure in 200
hours of operation.
