Walter:
Recently installed the H. stab. and V. Stab in my IV-P. You already know that
the plane must be absolutley dead level with wings attached. No "close enough"
at this point. It took me and a helper about half the day to get the plane
absolutley level and install the H. Stab. We used a water level and a laser
(bought at Harbor Freight for 20 bucks). It was worth it knowing the plane was
perfectly level when installing the H. & V. stab (peace of mind). Hysoling the
H. Stab in place was sort of anti climatic. We centered it and installed it at
-0.4 incidence. We measured from the flaps and ailerons gap to get the H. stab.
even with the wings. For pictures go to my web site at
http://people.we.mediaone.net/freemen/index.html.
Are you in the Lancaster/Palmdale area? I'm in Fresno and would like to come and
visit sometime.
