Subject: Exhaust Inserts - Gone!

Hi folks,

A month or so ago, Yvon had a photo of some exhaust inserts he had stuck
in his exhaust header.  They were somewhat the worst for wear.  I had
installed the same inserts some time last fall and could tell a noticeable
difference in the reduction of exhaust noise.  Lately, it seemed as though
my exhaust noise had gotten louder again.  So while doing my annual
inspection, I took the exhaust pipes off today to check the condition of the
inserts and I planned on taking a photo of them to show their condition.

Well, I could not take a photograph, because the exhaust inserts are no
longer there.  They are GONE!  Apparently the exhaust pulse of the turbo
block had pulverized the mild steel plates and tube - and ejected them out
the rear which has a fishtail squeezed down to 1/2".

My inserts were 18" from the exhaust port.  So there went a $100 out the
exhaust pipe.  I would think to survive the turbo exhaust they would have to
be made of heavy gauge stainless steel.
Anyhow, wanted to share this with you, while they were effective in reducing
exhaust volume they probably lasted less than 3 months.
