Wouldn't that last argument be the clencher.  The
oil filter is (at least it should be) the smallest
mesh in the system and requires the most work to get
the oil through.  The oil flows a lot easier when
it's hot.  You're making the pump do unnecessary
work by waiting to filter after it has been cooled.
 I won't represent a significant workload, but
there's no reason to throw horses away.
