Boy, John after reading your = offer of free=20 fuel, room and beer - I started packing - then
> I remembered my gearbox is at = Tracy's for=20 the retrofit of the 2.85 {:<( and I am not inclined to drive, = sorry.
No problem, Ed. I'll come and get you in the Cozy. We can = diagnose it on=20 the way back :)
Tell you what - if this goes on too much longer I'd spring for = a=20 commercial flight.

Now if you have a lot of prop = that of=20 course could be part of the answer why your rpm is lower
Yep. I=20 have a LOT of prop.

 > so unless its some = problems with=20 fouled plugs
The plugs were as foul as I've seen, and I've = seen=20 FOUL.

>I use SCATT tube and have never = had it=20 collapse, you do have the type with the wire in it?
Yes. I think it may be a bit restrictive, but = it=20 probably didn't collapse

had coasted down and landed = (giving the=20 engine some time to cool off in descent) I believe
> you found you had regained your=20 power.
The response was immediate when I adjusted = the mixture=20 during the return taxi. I think toward rich.

could not find any place where = you=20 indicated you had checked your fuel pressure (I might have just missed=20 it).
So=20 might I. I don't recall it. It's in my scan, but....

Could the heat generated by the = climbout=20 have caused something like that  [vapor = lock]
I'm thinking heat too. The power loss = happened about 35=20 mins into the flight during mid power cruise. I doubt it was vapor lock, = though=20 I've never experienced it I would expect more fluctuation in rpm. This = was as if=20 someone switched off half the engine. (or maybe = 1/3)

>  Could have been mixture.  = I sort of=20 discount this one as if you are flying and everything is stable engine = wise, the=20 fuel
requirements (and therefore = mixture ) does=20 not usually change abruptly enough to cause that kind of power = loss.
but if=20 the ignition isn't there, the mixture is automatically off - right. It = WAS a=20 mixture adjustment that brought the power back.

> If you want to discuss this = further off=20 line, just drop me a line or give me a call 704-821-7595.
Thanks. I'm happy to discuss it in public. = Maybe it'll=20 help someone else - like maybe Buly 6 years from now, when he's going = through=20 the same stuff. :)

Thanks for the input, = Ed.
