[FlyRotary] Re: Glider time
The low oil buzzer went off and I
turned and headed for an airport as there was no water around and then
it seized and I re fired it twice and got another 20 seconds out of it
each time but I came up a 1/4 mile short of the airport.

Hey,
Ken
As one rotary glider pilot to another,
great to hear that the event was uneventful (other than the seat
cushion of course). I presume the engine seized after losing
sufficient oil. Can you recall the symptoms (if any) that
indicate engine failure was imminent? such as surging oil pressure,
but before it actually seized.
Glad to hear
you avoided the news vultures, they seldom ever present the facts
correctly and certainly don't interpret them
correctly.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Glider time
I got some more glider time
in my log book, I think I got enough for a glider check ride now, no
damage to the plane as it slid across the field smoother than some
water landing, nice having that bullet proof hull under there as I
slid it in wheels up.
Blew an oil line do to
chafing from the cowl, going to some better line
now.
The worst of it was the 5 fire
trucks 5 cop cars not counting the one swat teem member, the K_9 unit
and the chaplain the drug out his book and started praising the lord
and I just laughed and said no no no you got the wrong dud and he said
oh your not the pilot and I said yes but you still got the wrong
dud.
Then it really pissed off the
new guys as I had the plane packed up and home before they got there,
five news agencies called and wanted an interview from my girl friend
and wanted my phone number as its unlisted but she told them to kiss
off and to get a real job.
Got another engine already
installed and should be running in a couple of
days.
