I have it on excellent authority from my old mate Jarrawalla from Borraloola that 9 out of 10 Northern Territory crocs definitely prefer women - especially young maidens - he tells me that they will go for the Lubras nearly every time (It's the dragon syndrome - remember what happened in the Garden of Eden, the story of St George etc??), which definitely counts me out - I'm too old, too tough, ... and ... I also happen to be a cold weather bloke that hates the fetid humidity of the tropics, (Tasmania is more my style!), so the LAST place you would EVER catch me is in the NT in the middle of Summer! So be warned, ... I am still alive ... ! I think I also mentioned on the newsletter that I was having several weeks off to go and do "other" things which had nothing to do with cars, aircraft etc.. I am still in the process of doing those "other things" which "things" have taken FAR longer than expected (don't they always), and are still in progress ... So as for the EWP test data, it IS coming, like Armageddon! (which might be closer than we think, given all the "wars and rumours of wars" and this current military madness which seems to be infecting certain "Principalities and Powers", but I do digress ... ) As mostly everybody has now gone AWOL Down Under, the dyno testing will now have to wait until the madness of the DUXHIMS (Down Under Xmas Holiday Internal Migration Season) is over towards the end of January. Only then do the milling hoards of seething humanity and their (unruly) offspring return from the (over)crowded holiday dedstinations as their holiday paychecks run out and they all are forced to go back to work! The 22nd of Jan is the earliest I can get on my mate's new dyno. He has just purchased a DynoPack dyno, a non-roller chassis dynamometer, and will need careful calibration before it's fully operational.. See: http://www.melfab.com.au/dynopack/ It connects directly to the hubs (you take the wheels off!), so there is no variability as the tyres heat up and lose grip (I've seen a tuff turbo 3 rotor turn tyres to licorice on the rollers ), no tyre noise, no problems holding the tyres on the rollers, and the only power losses are the drivetrain losses (mainly diff as the tests are run in top - 4th/ 1:1 direct - gear). This thing is so accurate and sensitive, it is possible to tell the power differences between how the plug electrodes are clocked!! (Oh dear, I wonder what I have started here! ... for those who doubt my sanity, please read what: http://www.nhra.com/dragster/1999/issue25/racing_technology.html and http://www.automedia.com/xml/pht/pht20001001sp.xml?Template=: template:is_template.htm has to say on plug indexing before any of you pillory me on this! So probably close to the end of January - very early Feb now before I have incontovertible, reproducible data. (I want to try it on at least two different cars with different motors 1 turbo, and 1 non turrbo). I have to make sure it is RIGHT! However, preliminary data does show that the EWP does actually perform as advertised. I never doubted it for a minute, much to the chagrin of certain mathematically challenged individuals! So stay tuned. I don't want to go off half cocked. It's a bit like that shampoo advert, "It won't happen overnight, ... but it WILL happen". In the meantime, I'll keep myself gainfully occupied doing those "other" things which have nothing whatsoever to do with cars, aircraft etc..
