Interesting thought. I'm wondering if I should do the same. But, the way I was thinking was....the mount plate basically gives the sump increased capacity. Having increased capacity is a good thing. More oil in the "cooling pool" in the sump. My pickup can reach as much oil as it could stock, since I've added 1/4 inch to the level. Since I have the extra oil, it would be nice to reach it if I run that low, but if I run THAT low I have serious problems somewhere.
Make any sense?

Yeah.  I have the stock oil level sensor wired to a light on the panel, but I'm not sure it does any good now since I was moved down, in relation to the oil pickup tube.  I honestly don't know if the oil level would trigger before, or after I stopped picking up oil.  I do know that if it ever flashes on, I'm getting on the ground ASAP.

John (wishing I'd drilled a bigger hole in the mount plate for the dipstick to go through)

You're not going to start bragging about dipstick size again are you :-)
