Had the same seepage you spoke of, but I think it was coming from housing/irons joints. Found many discrepancies in the build I purchased, paid too much. After I rebuilt everything ( with new parts, many old worn parts found in orig. build ) I made sure I used a high quality break cleaner to degrease sealing areas. Still used the same gray permatex.
