Has to be better than all-electric, where you start with a fini= te charge and steadily drain it to near zero. I think it should be doable w= ith today's tech for light a/c - max t/o weight off 1500 lbs ... but I'm no= t looking to buy. Jeff Probably could make a bit more power, but since the car is a series hybrid = and the engine only turns a generator, they've likely optimized the port ti= ming, injector size, etc for 'single point' operation at its most efficient= operating point. Maybe one of the rotary performance shops will find a way= to splice a pair of E-shafts & make a center housing. ;-) It's pretty hard to make a hybrid a/c make sense, unless you're going to so= mething like distributed power/props, to get VSTOL/STOL performance. The ex= tra weight of the generator and the efficiency losses going through two ene= rgy conversions hurts. Since an a/c spends most of its time in a relatively= narrow range of power settings, the engine should get optimized for single= point operation similar to the series hybrid generator engine. We don't ha= ve the constant power changes that make parallel hybrid setups work well fo= r cars. Charlie
