We have just last week completed the 40 hours of Phase #1. Now headed into our summer here in Perth Western Australia.=20 Our lowest average temps are 10C / 50F in July with a few days getting = at low as 4C / 39F =20 highest average temps are 31C / 88F in Feb with a few days maxing around = 40C / 104F Flying in cooler conditions at present with cowl flaps fixed open our = OIL temps are about 15C above H2O temps so we are going to enlarge the = Oil inlet from ~9in2 to ~14in2. Im hoping that in bringing our OIL down it will bring the H2O down a = little also. Then we will look into reshaping and mechanising our cowl flaps to = enable us to controll temps while reducing cooling drag. Also considering a prop change, We currently have an inflight adjustable = 66.5 inch Prop. With the 2.85:1 RD1-C ratio and a chosen redline of 7500RPM our prop = tips are travelling pretty slow - Tracy recommended the RD1-C ratio only = for props above 72 inches. So looking into a secondhand 72 inch MT, which makes clearance as low as = I=E2=80=99m comfortable with.
