Thanks, Le Roux.

The sharing is what makes this rotary community so valuable.

I found the plugs up installation to have several benefits and only one down side.  I had to do a little modifying of Tracy's PSRU mounting plate to get the starter where I needed it but that was it.  The old flooding issue with the standard orientation just isn't there with plugs up.  Any excess fuel dropped out the "bottom" exhaust port and within 3-4 revolutions the flooded engine would fire right off.  Also made the exhaust system simpler and of  course the plugs were on top rather than the side.

I think you will be happy with your choice.

I would still be flying it but decided that age was beginning to be a factor in keeping my focus lenght, so decided to quit on my terms.  As you can see, still very interested and connected to all the many friends made over the years.

Best Regards

Ed

Ed: Just can imagine how you feel after so many hours of planning and R&D on the fwf package of your old RV6A bluebird.
I put a “feather in your hat” for all the intellectual capital ,that you have shared, over the years, to all engine groups and kitbuild articles about alternative engines Your installation and flying behind it for over 1000 hours have inspired me to do a plugs-up mount on my 13B.The installation fits in much easier in my firewall and cowl.
The side sump is almost finnished and are more or less a footprint of your design.

I wish I'd been more focused on your mounting ideas when I built the mount for my Renesis. It would have made the mount adapter *so* much simpler to do plugs-up.

Yep, thats the engine package for my old bird.  Well do I remember it.  Buyer of airframe and engine rebuilt engine and send me video of engine running, but apparently decided to not go with the rotary.  It used the standard Mazda 13B ignition modules, so some improvements in some areas could be make.  Hate to see engine and airframe separated, but thats the way it goes.

The mount bolts right up to the standard RV-6A engine attachment point.

Heads up for anyone looking for a drive or controller. Just saw Ed Anderson's FWF for sale on ebay.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Aircraft-Engine-/154079738356?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10

It appears to include the prop, an EC3, and Ed's engine monitor. Might be able to make an offer & be way ahead on collecting stuff, even if you can't use the mount.
