Charlie,

The installation is dependent on all the other interfacing equipment, so it’s not possible to ‘set the device up’ during a purchase. Besides, I bought this unit used from Wentworth. The Garmin “GTX35R/45R Install Tool (PN 006-A0271-01) is necessary to configure the GTX345R to work with all other equipment. This isn’t a sw update, it’s to configure it internally with the ICAO codes, traffic out ports and formats, etc.

I’ve an issue that begs solving involving the need to use a Garmin set up program for the GTX345R (for Remote) transponder. I should have just gotten the 345 panel mount (since you can config it from the display!) and just remote mounted it, but there you go. Since I install and maintain all my own stuff, I’m not finding anyone who will part with this software item without difficulty. It is called the “GTX 3X5 Install Tool”.

Anybody have access to it and can send it along?

What does Garmin say? If I couldn't get the ability to set up the device *with the purchase*, I'd consider it a defective product and get a refund. Of course, I try to avoid the G word if at all possible, just on general (and specific) principles.

Not what I said. To repeat (with emphasis):
If I couldn't get the ability to set up the device *with the purchase*, I'd consider it a defective product and get a refund.

If the ability involves a particular piece of software, Garmin should make it available. If I bought it from Wentworth, Wentworth should make it available. If you can't configure it, it's of no more value than a 'serviceable' engine that's missing the crankshaft.
