Neil, What is your opinion of the alloy plates from "Pac Performance"?........In comparison with "ProMaz".............They do not use a replaceable wear plate................

When I say “worn out” the problem is usually a breakage in the side seals that causes a gouge deeper than repairable. These alloy plates are used in drag racing, so useage is not all that great for the cost. I expect that the side plates are from Bissalloy high wearing, compared to mild steel and little dearer. Well worth the extra. Because of the cost I have never asked Simon what he uses. Cost In Oz dollars is $2500 each end plate and $3000 for the center plate last I asked, a total of $8000 AUD. That has 10% tax added for OZ, so is removed for export. You will have to find a way to get into the US without tax if possible. The OZ dollar is approx. 70 US cents, so take 1/3 off the OZ price to get your Yank price -- $5600 USD. I still really think that is too much for the few Kgs saving. My 2c worth. Neil. Worn out? Shouldn't the plate last the life of the engine? How often do they "wear out"? Are there any examples of high mileage engines that they can point to? At $10K, just for the three housings, I'd expect high level of reliability. Alloy side housings are from Promaz automotive in Thomastown in Melbourne Aust. With our dollar they will cost approx. $1800 USD ?? Not sure what his current price is. He puts a steel wear plate into the housings which is great to replace when worn out Name is simon ???? Good to deal with but no bargains. Neil. Where is the aluminum side housings? Where can I purchase them?
