My solution is to replace the fan belt annually. $30 is = cheap insurance for a single point failure. There are many single point = failures that we all fly with. Engine, prop, tyres, etc. There is no = such thing as Zero risk. Perhaps I have lived long enough to realise I must eventually die?? A Glasair 3, IO540 with dual electronic ignition, had a belt failure = which took our its single CAS input. Pilot did an emergency landing onto a school oval totalling the aircraft = and both pilot and passenger spent many months in hospital with horrific = burns. I chose to install the BUSENSOR option. Now the CAS itself electrically an inherently reliable devise.=20 But it is just plastic and vulnerable to breakage if struck. And the wiring harness may be vulnerable.=20 I added a stainless steel cable into the CAS wiring, anchored securely = to protect it from a belt breakage.
