Interestingly from the EC3 manual:
"TACHOMETER CONNECTION
The EC3 sends engine information over a serial link to the EM2 engine monitor (if used) including engine speed and many other parameters.  It primarily derives engine speed and fuel flow by monitoring the injector drive signal on J1 pin 3.  If you are not using the EM3, this pin may be used to drive a tachometer if it is capable of working with a one pulse per revolution 12 volt signal.   Consult the maker of the tachometer you are considering for compatibility with this specification."

This is what lead me to think I didn't need to connect the EM3 tach input to the EC3.
But I don't see engine speed in any of the 28 parameters above, unless it's TPL and TPH. Still haven't figured out what "TP" is. Timing Pulse? Or maybe IPWCR?
EM3 does display MAP correctly, just no RPM. Need to review the EM3 program.

Last night I also found I'd reversed the A/B switch. Program states: Switch open: A, closed: B. If B selected and hear relays in EC3 releasing when turning off power to it.
PFUN only displayed in mode A, apparently. Happy to find that I'd at least wired the mode switch correctly.

Hi Finn
Interesting.
Where is this data dump on the EM3?
I can’t find it in my documentation.

Hi Finn.
At Charlies request, I’m happy for us to keep the discussion public.
I hadn’t used the EM3 Engine Dump screen. Must check it out.
So I guess with a Renesis CAS but timing for a 3 rotor ignition and injectors it might run like a Harley!

So did the compiler get the equates wrong, or more likely the chips didn’t erase properly if it was previously progged for a 20B?
Worth checking the source for any semicolons etc in the wrong place in the list of EQU’s.
Did MPLABS read and confirm the burns?
Do you know what engine the EC3 was previously set up for?

Steve
This is a brand new EC3 board and new virgin chips.

Checked the compile listing and:
000000A8 01194 ENG EQU 0xA8 ;PUT ENGINE TYPE CODE HERE AND CHECK **** ALL **** FLAGS BELOW!!
so something else in the program is changing it from this constant value to B0.
