Hi. not sure if I've posted my
fuel setup before, but attached is a
picture of the pumps during testing
prior to installation. Has been in
for awhile now and seems to work
well. basic idea was for semi
returnless and to minimize piping
& joins, as they are my nemisis.
Basically a manifold with low
& high pressure galleries, 2
walbro pumps, 2 filters, pressure
regulator, pressure & flow
senders, optical level sender in low
pressure side and NC gas solonoid to
allow vapour lock release (never
needed yet) and fuel transfer (used
to empty last fuel from tip tanks
into right main tank). also bleed
back from high to low side under the
regulator, just a drilled hole with
a jet from a carby pressed in
(relieves pressure after shutdown
and dumps enough fuel so regulator
can still cope just in case both
pumps are on).
Fuel is stored in 4 wing tanks
connected to valve from a Piper
aircraft. through a strainer, boost
pump (standby/transfer) then into
low pressure side of manifold, out
from flow sensor to fuel rail. for
majority of fuel lines I used Gates
Barricade hose.
If boost pump is off and the
solonoid valve on, it does allow
fuel flow back from right main into
manifold, bypassing selecter valve,
strainer & boost pump. obviously
this mode would only be used in an
emergency.
Everyday use is very simple.
select tank, turn 1 pump on. go fly.
have not had to use boost pump
before or during flight.
