Actually, I've never
encountered that problem (water pump wouldn't prime) probably because my water
pump is the lowest point in my cooling system (Plugs Up). So basically if
there is any coolant in the block at all it will get pumped.
But, show up at Sun & Fun with your
RV-3 and I'll buy you two beers {:>)
Does it matter if I'm towing it on a trailer
:-) I sure would like to make SNF this year, but I can't see any
chance of it. I still have 25 hours to fly off, and a whole new
installation to troubleshoot. If I'm still with Philips by April 1st,
I'll be in a training class in Cleveland during SNF. If they lay me off,
I'll have time, but still not enough to make SNF. I should
make SERFI, and certainly Tracy's fly-in.
I'm just giving you a hard time of course. The
block is full, so the stock pump would certainly pump water out into the cores
until it ran out. In other words, I could certainly crank the engine for a
few seconds, shut it down, refill, and repeat as necessary. At this point,
it just seems a whole lot easier to install the bleed valves. They will be
at the high points of the evap cores, and I also have an AN plug at the coolant
outlet on top of the engine. With all those, I bet I can fill this thing
within a few ounces of capacity on the first try.
Next, I have to work on my oil filling
technique.
Cheers,
Rusty
