Something to note, the "NEW" engine configuration was also used in Fairbanks Morse locomotive engines. It was one of the most economical ice engines. There is some timing differential between the cranks to make the ports work better. They used to call them "blowdown" engines. If you look on line you can find the Gemini aero engine that works the same way. Diesel is the most common with this set-up. Heck the British even build one with 3 crankshafts in a Delta configuration. It  didn't improve efficiency enough to justify the complications and didn't remain in production IIRC. Also the automotive trade publications were showing this engine over a year ago. Maybe it is just now ready for production?

You're right; that configuration is pretty old, though the ones I remember were diesels. The Dynacam is a different engine design. The swash plate (crank) is in the middle of the engine, with pistons moving parallel to the crankshaft in both directions off the swash plate.
