Hi Guys

I've got to feed air from a under the spinner to the throttle body.
I'm interested in Ram Air but have some questions.

1. What do we do about a bit of rain getting into the system? I gather ice and snow is a huge problem and some designs have bypasses.

Rain good, just like ADI.   Flight into iceing & snow heavy enough to block intake would probably have crashed you long before  the inlet was blocked.  bypass not a bad idea but lived without one for 2000 + hours.

2. I take it that filtering is essential. How does water effect filter material? What filter material is best.

On a car, a must.  On an airplane, just be careful where you put inlet ( keep it high) and don't taxi behind someone on a dry dusty taxiway.   Never had an air filter.

3. Is there a valve available to purchase to switch between filtered and non filtered ram air?

Cheers
