I think that makes sense in a tandem configuration. If I fly from the right seat I can have a similar configuration. My GTR 225 Com arrived today and I fired her up on the bench. I chose it over the new Dynon. I can see what Dave is talking about in regards the radio. If I fly from the right seat I have a right-handed Infinity grip in my right hand and the throttle quadrant in my left. If I then reach for the frequency knobs I obscure my vision of the display (Com is centre with 10' Skyview either side). If Skyview can talk to the com and set frequencies etc. then part of that problem goes away. Any real problem flying from the right seat, we drive from the right seat down here.
Thanks you guys.
Steve An F-16 is what I visualize as an ideal cockpit. I happened to think that all the answers were locked in to our own personal Vision of that. Throttle position will depend greatly on whether the machine is tandem or side by side seating. All mine are tandem where throttle in front of the left armrest is most logical and of course there is no console possible.

Doh. Throttle Body! I was thinking of a quadrant that sits where your arm and hand naturally fall. I drive with my hand on the gear selector in the car. I thought I would fashion a console just like in a modern motor car.
Cheers

Hi Steve TB=throttle body
I built a quadrant out of Jarrah and steel for my plane, took a bit of work to get the shape and weight I wanted but in the end it works and controls throttle and prop, and has good ergonomics. I don't have a preference to quadrant or push/pull as long as they are placed correctly. the throttle needs to be at a natural position for your non flying hand. just don't do it like the early Jabiru's with the throttle on the floor between your crotch, that's just plain wrong!
