However, the cost of the wideband sensor kits I found approach (or are more than) the total cost of the EFISM - so not feasible marketing wise.  But, who knows - there are a bunch of them out there and I have not done an exhaustive search - yet.

Ed, look at the LS1 line of Innovate sideband sensors.  They have their own computer that controls the heater, and it just puts out a 0-5V corresponding to the F/A mixture.
