Controversy?  Oh yeah, Chairman Obama considers the Constitution a controversy. Sigh.  Political slant off. Sigh

Interesting. I should consider a gun in the cockpit other than my little off duty Rugar 380. It's easier to conceal when off duty but a bit small if things go south if I am down in the wilderness of the east Texas Big Thicket.....or inner city Houston. Yikes. (Yeah, I know, such a cop thing to say)

I don't have a good answer for where, but I can certainly tell you when -- before 1Nov2012.

Until then, Sportsman's Warehouse and Cabelas had 9mm 115g for about $11 /50.  I think you only have a Cabelas near you.  That leaves the mail/web order houses such as Midway USA (Missouri) and Natchez Shooters Supply (TN).   The former advertises Remington for 12.29 plus shipping, but out-of-stock - no backorder.  However, they'll probably get stock before any local store, with the possible exception of Wal-Mart.

Best bet was to buy enough previously to keep a 500 round reserve, plus enough to practice with for at least two years (probably should have been four, this time around).

So, what are you guys carrying for a survival arm when you fly over wilderness areas?  I was originally planning on an 18" barreled AR-15 clone; but with the current controversy, I've settled on a .30-30 lever gun.

Chris,

Well, it is low IFR here in Austin-Lockhart today, so the wife and I went to the shooting range.  We would have stayed longer, but in case you haven't heard, there's a severe shortage of ammo virtually everywhere.  So, tell me Chris, what's the inside skinny on where to buy 9mm?

>> Phase One report:  After addressing a clogged fuel filter (ultimately removing it....very small passages in the screen) I flew again on Thursday. Just a quick hop around the patch. This is sometime more an issue than it would seem at a towered field with heavy military/NASA traffic under Class B.

>> No squawks and nice data log with the latest Dynon 5.1 update. Along with "Clouds Ahoy" ya get a pretty nice picture off the flight and parameters. This was only the ninth flight but was more fun as I seem to be getting things sorted. Still haven't left the pattern :-)
