I moved my starter to the 2:30 position. (see attached photo) I used a band saw to cut the large half circle and used a circular sanding drum to finish it. I than held the starter in place with the started gear engaged with the ring geat to determine the location of one of the starter flange holes. After drilling the first flange hole, I mounted the starter and adjusted it until it engaged the ring gear properly. (it already was real close). Than I tightened the first flange bolt and drilled the second one. The modificaton has worked for 5 years. You need the plate off the aircraft to cut the big hole and then mount it for the flange hole locations.
