I had pulled the engine to attempt to cap off an oil leak that seemed to originate from between the engine and mount plate.  Got it back together and fired up tonight.

+1 for GE 100% Silicone Caulking.  It appears that the sealant I used before had blown out. I applied a thick bead of the caulk when reinstalling the muffler. I was surprised by how quiet and smooth the engine ran.  The quiet makes sense, but I'm not sure what would have changed to make it run smoother.

I did change the oil, switching from 10W30 to straight 30W.  And I switched to a different coil pack.  Whatever it is, I'm happy to have it running so smoothly.

Now I can continue tuning.  My mixture-less control is working better than it has any right to.  The AN tuning is almost complete.  Plotting throttle position against RPM produces a clean line from the bottom left to top right, with just some flattening of the curve at the top.  I'll clean that up, but the next big job is to incorporate an SD tune to account for baromtric changes.

It's starting to get fun now.
