Hi Todd,

    Yes, they are aluminum, got them from a fellow in New York back in the mid 1990s who did them for Hot Rods.  Very reasonably priced and yes, I would do it the same.  I initially added the louvers when I was having oil temp problems (before I moved the oil cooler up under the spinner).  They now probably help on the hottest days and after shutdown.

   Here is the URL http://www.norwich.net/canfield/canfield/samples.htm  you might look in his "samples" section and see examples on an aircraft.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Exit louvers

Hi Ed;
    In the attached pic of your plane, is your louvers. I currently have my cowl at home as I'm making a few changes, (not as big a change as Rusty :-), so I'm considering adding some exit louvers as currently my exit area is only 1.2 times the inlet. My cooling has been fine due mainly to the venturi effect that I think (hope) that I'm getting from the exhaust pipe through my muffler housing. However I'd like to get a little better since I hope to visit some really hot places (wanna go back to Mexico :-).
    So my question is; Where did you get your louvers? Are they aluminium? Would you do it the same way again?
