Thomas,
The Xtreme Rotaries eccentric separation tool appears to be a simple slide hammer design. Not that it won't work, but Bob's design presses against the end of the eccentric (leave the nut in place to protect threads) and uses the lever principle to accomplish the work. A small rap on the outer edge of the bar pops it apart. Saved us $280.

Bob and Thomas,
I vaguely remember hearing the description of the 20B eccentric shaft tool from someone a long
while back (probably from Mark Steitle) but have not put my mind (getting feeble) around it............
A photo and or a sketch of this device would sure help myself and others of the group that may
have this job in their future.................
Thanks,

Yeah .... was expecting that but it;s good to have the exact specs (threads, etc.)
Kind of like the 'dent puller' they have in body shops.
Crazy pricing for a once use tools.
Thanks.

Be sure you have the means to separate the two parts of the eccentric shaft before you crack the case. It is a simple tool that the dealer wanted $800 for. I made one from parts in my scrap box in about 15 minutes. It consists of a threaded rod with nut, and one end threaded to fit the hole in the shaft. 18 mm, don’t remember the pitch, but it is the same as the O2 sensor. and a heavy chunk of metal with a loose fit hole that the rod goes threw it and reaches beyond the end of the shaft.
Of course you may know all this already. Good luck!

Subject: [FlyRotary] 20B Rebuild
A little prep work before I start my rebuild.........
Is there any machine work that needs to be done to the eccentric shaft (such as would be done with a crankshaft?)
How do I know that I am replacing the rotor in the correct position.
I won't crack the case open until this fall but these are just the nagging questions I have.
